New research from the University of Buffalo Research Institute on Addictions reveals the following about frequent energy drink consumers
(6 or more days per month). They were 3 times more likely to…

  • Have smoked cigarettes
  • Abused prescription drugs
  • Been in a serious physical fight

And they were twice as likely to…

  • Drink alcohol
  • Have alcohol-related problems
  • Have used marijuana

Also, of the 795 study participants two thirds had used energy drinks as mixers with alcoholic beverages which can be a dangerous combination.
